Under near perfect weather conditions, the Greenwich Hospital Freedom Riders participated in the Spin in the Garden Sept. 5 to support the 14th annual Closer to Free ride (see YNHH article).
The 13 riders pedaled spin bikes – donated by the YMCA of Greenwich – in the hospital’s community garden. A YMCA spin instructor donated her time to lead participants through two 30-minute spin classes.
“The YMCA of Greenwich is honored to support the Spin in the Garden and Greenwich Hospital in their efforts to enhance cancer care in our community,” said Matthew Skaarup, YMCA CEO. “We are grateful for our longstanding partnership with Greenwich Hospital and our shared commitment to health and wellness.”
Kristina Capretti, RN, DNP, director of Patient Services for Smilow Greenwich, thanked the riders for supporting cancer care services. The team is more than halfway to its goal.
“Thanks to participants, we can continue to provide much-needed services to our patients, whether it’s treatment, social work, rehabilitation and more,” said Capretti.
