Quality & Safety

Quality

Greenwich Hospital has a longstanding commitment to providing quality care, which we take very seriously. We place a high priority on keeping patients and families informed and involved in their healthcare decisions. As a healthcare consumer, you have a right to know about our hospital’s quality of care and how it compares to state and national performance goals.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) measures quality in hospitals across the country. These independently developed quality standards are compiled and reported annually. The measurements reflect levels of care delivered by each hospital and ratings of patients’ hospital experiences.

In the survey called HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems), Greenwich Hospital received the highest patient ranking in Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y. in the category of “most highly recommended.”

To view Greenwich Hospital’s performance metrics profile on the HHS.gov web site, go to Hospital Compare. Enter our zip code, 06830, and search Greenwich Hospital’s measures of care.

Patient Safety

At Greenwich Hospital, we want your experience to be as safe, comfortable and pleasant as possible. Having and enforcing effective, standardized safety protocols and quality control measures helps us deliver consistently high quality, safe patient care throughout your stay.

Good communication between patients and healthcare providers is essential for optimal care. Members of your healthcare team (e.g. physicians, nurses, therapists, nursing assistants or any healthcare professional involved in your care) at Greenwich Hospital are working together to make your hospital experience both safe and beneficial. It is well known that patient involvement in the plan of care is an important factor for promoting good care and preventing medical errors.

In 2012, Greenwich Hospital was named one of the safest hospitals in Connecticut by the Leapfrog Group, a nationally recognized nonprofit patient advocacy organization.
