Depending on one’s neurological disorder and/or treatment (e.g., surgery), rehabilitation services may be part of a care plan. Greenwich Hospital offers rehabilitation services of physical, occupational and speech therapy.
Common problems associated with neurological disorders include vision and cognitive impairment, poor balance, inability to walk, paralysis and loss of functional independence.
The neurological rehabilitation team works with patients and family members to establish short- and long-term treatment goals for recovery. The goal is to regain the highest level of function and independence, while also improving overall quality of life – physically, emotionally, and socially.
Many neurosurgery patients begin rehabilitation during their hospital stay and continue afterward as outpatients. Physicians prescribe these therapies as necessary.
The Physical Medicine Department at Greenwich Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services.
