Sharon Ostfeld-Johns, MD, is a hospital medicine specialist who cares for hospitalized adults and children, including newborns.

As an assistant professor of clinical pediatrics (hospital medicine) and of medicine (hospital medicine) at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Ostfeld-Johns' research interests include diagnostic reasoning, reducing medical errors, and breastfeeding medicine.

Dr. Ostfeld-Johns is actively involved with projects related to prenatal substance exposure, collaborating with various local and national partners to enhance care for families affected by substance use disorders. Her work aims to reduce the criminalization of substance use during pregnancy and improve treatment access, fostering healthier families that remain united after birth.

Dr. Ostfeld-Johns received her medical training from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry before completing a combined internal medicine-pediatrics residency at Yale School of Medicine.
