At Greenwich Hospital, registered dietitians contribute to the patient’s treatment plan by recommending the appropriate hospital diet that should be prescribed.
Patients receive balanced meals and snacks that take into account personal preferences and any intolerances or allergies they may have. Information about a patient's food allergies is electronically routed to the food and nutrition services department, which develops personalized menus that exclude triggers, such as wheat, soy, nuts, shellfish, dairy and others. Ensuring that meals are prepared according to the patient's dietary restrictions is an important component of patient safety.
Our dietitians accommodate vegetarian, kosher and other personal diet choices within medical guidelines. They also have expertise in nutritional supplements and tube feedings.
In addition, gourmet meals for inpatients and their guests are available through our Platinum menu for a fee. Details are available in patient rooms or through the hospital’s Patient & Guest Relations Dept. Call 203-863-4746.
All maternity patients receive a complimentary gourmet dinner to celebrate the birth of their baby.
Visitor dining is available at the Ground Floor Nutmeg Grill cafeteria.
Coffee service is provided in the second floor lounge area near the Medical/Surgical treatment areas.
If a patient would like a visitor to stay for mealtime in the patient’s room, a guest tray may be requested. Selections must be made at least two hours before the meal is served.
Guest and patient trays are served when all the meals are served on the unit. The price of the guest’s meal will appear as a separate charge on the patient’s account.
To make arrangements for a guest tray, call 203-863-5211.
